A Brief Bio
2008
Jen Waters was born in Montreal, Canada and grew up in Lorraine, a suburb north of the city. She earned her BFA at Concordia University in 1997. From 1998 to 2003 she maintained a studio practice in Toronto and worked at Sistering, a drop-in center for disenfranchised women. Jen also served on the programming committee, juries and co-coordinated the exhibition In –Between at A-Space gallery. Before pursuing her MFA at Parsons the New School for Design in New York, she mounted exhibitions in Montreal, Toronto, Chicago and St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Since graduating with the MFA in 2005, Jen has been developing new artwork, as well as a documentary project about artists’ ideas and the evolution of their work through their art degrees in University. She currently lives in Manhattan and works out of the would-be bedroom of her apartment.
